Dance of Salome.
Salome is a Jewish princess, daughter of Herodias and Herod Boeth, the stepdaughter of Herod Antipas; afterwards the queen of Chalcis and Little Armenia. The dance of the young Salome at the celebration of the birth of Herod Antipas (his date of birth is unknown) led to the fact that Antipas agreed to fulfill her every desire, and, being taught by her mother, Salome asked to kill the prophet John the Baptist, and after the execution she was brought on his dish head.
