Majnun.
Majnoon (Arab -mad, possessed by the genie), real name Kayyb ibn al-Mulauwah is the nickname of the semi-legendary Arab poet from the tribe of Banu Amir. Majnun became famous for his devoted love for Laily's tribe, whom her father gave out for another. The unfortunate poet retired to the desert, where he wrote poems in honor of his beloved. The prose story of Leila and Majnun inspired many poets and prose writers of the East.
